Japan born model, Emily Aoki is lucky to be alive. She was nearly murdered and lived on the street.
Emily’s mixed race was the cause for the severe bullying she went through in school. However, the physical and mental scars from childhood was only the start.
She narrowly escapes death after the abuse by her high-school sweetheart took a turn for the worse. He stabbed her in her back with a knife, leaving her fighting for her life. The abuse was unstoppable. Months later he takes his own life.

Emily moved back to Japan and worked as a flight attendant. It was there that she had a failed marriage and a child. After her divorce Emily was homeless, fell into a deep depression and felt depleted by all the events in her life. She tried to take her own life but failed.

“Although I was still interested in modelling, the scars on my body and the emotional rejection throughout my life gave me a very low self-esteem and self-doubt.” says Emily
Today, Emily is back safe in Australia and working as a model and flight attendant.
Although Emily did not make it through to the National Finals, she feels that her time as a Regional Finalist help her built her confidence. With her face, her body and her modelling skills elevating her score, Emily’s English skills prevented her from getting through to the next round.
Considering she was nearly murdered, Emily made a great success of her life. She is a great role model for all abused women and mothers.
