The crown remains in the capital with the election of Miss San Juan, Danyeshka “Danna” Hernandez , as Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2017.
Danna Hernandez, with her natural beauty and intelligence, became a favorite from the beginning of the competition.
The model is currently a student of Public Relations with minor in Marketing at the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras campus and also speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese. And for several months, Danna toured the commonwealth island giving guidance on health and well-being to a high school student.

Now with more courage than ever I have the honor to say that I represent my Country, my people and I go with everything to represent us before the Universe. While her real name is Danyeshka , the new Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2017 was always known by Danna . Her parents are Mavelyn Valentin and Daniel Hernandez, both natural nurses from Adjuntas.
At the finals night, Danna wore an evening gown created by designer Luis Antonio. Upon winning, Danna said that since she was little she dreamed of competing in the Miss Universe.“That’s why I’ve prepared myself by taking classes in modeling, dancing, diction and acting. I have competed in beauty contests at different stages of my life and to this day I enjoy preparing what has been my goal for many years. In my free time I love doing exercises, reading self-motivation books and sharing with my family. ”
Finishing first runner-up is Miss Ponce , Jailene Rivera while the second runner-up position is won by Miss Dorado , Kimberly Jiménez. The third runner-up is Miss Aibonito , Gretchen Colon while Miss Rio Grande , Ivana Irizarry, settled as fourth runner-up.
