At the conclusion of the Puteri Indonesia 2017 pageant, professional model Bunga Jelitha Ibrani bagged the coveted title of Miss Universe Indonesia 2017 and is set to a quest of bringing back home for the first time the elusive Miss Universe crown. Indonesia had a good streak of placement in the Miss Universe pageant since 2013 but has yet to pass the swimsuit round.Bunga Jelitha Ibrani was initially announced as the 2nd runner-up before host corrected the mistake. Prior to winning Puteri Indonesia 2017 and becoming Miss Universe Indonesia 2017, Bunga Jelitha Ibrani has represented Indonesia and won Supermodel International 2011.
Reigning Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere from France was a special guest at the finals night while Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova sat as one of the judges.
