Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss South Africa 2017 in a star-studded event held at at the Sun City Superbowl. The 21-year old Business Management and Entrepreneurship student from Sedgefield in the Western Cape will represent South Africa in either or both Miss Universe and Miss World pageants.
Finishing first runner-up is Adè van Heerden while Boipelo Mabe won second runner-up. Priyeshka Lutchman and Shané Naidoo completed the Top 5 while the rest of the Top 8 were Iman Mkwanazi, Nicole van Niekerk and Odirile Sepeng.
This year’s Miss South Africa pageant was for the first that the public was able to vote for their favorites. However, the winner was still elected by the finals judges.
As the new Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters won a prize of one million rand or about 80,000 US dollars.
