Laura González Ospina, the representative of the host city of Cartagena, walked away with the crown of Senorita Colombia 2017 or Miss Universe Colombia 2017. Held at the Las Americas Convention Center in Cartagena, the pageant was moved from its traditional November coronation to pave way for the new Miss Universe regulation which requires crowned candidates to compete first before crowning their successors.
In order for Senorita Colombia 2015 Andrea Tovar to compete for Miss Universe 2016, Senorita Colombia was moved to a later date.
Being a favorite from the beginning, Miss Cartagena led the competition from the swimsuit to the evening gown round. With a degree in dramatic arts, Laura González Ospina will try to win Colombia’s third Miss Universe crown in the upcoming 66th Miss Universe pageant.
As Miss Universe Colombia 2017, she will follow the three year streak of Colombia in the Top 3 with Paulina Vega’s win in 2014, Ariadna Gutierrez’s first runner-up finish in 2015 and the second runner-up win of Andrea Tovar in the last edition.
