The reigning Miss Universe 2016 and Miss World 2016 in Indonesia has become a sort of fashion showdown between the queens of the two longest running pageants.
Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mitteneare first visited Indonesia to crown the new Puteri Indonesia, the national pageant for the Miss Universe preliminaries. As per tradition of every visiting reigning Miss Universe, Iris wore an elaborate Indonesian kebaya which looked divine in her.
Then the reigning Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle had her turn of visiting Indonesia, this time as VIP guest of the Miss Indonesia pageant to crown the new Miss World Indonesia. The Puerto Rican beauty wore a what appeared to be a modified kebaya with all the elements of lace work retained in her dress.
Indonesia is the current nation in the world which annually invites the reigning Miss Universe and Miss World queens to their national pageants. During the previous years, the Miss Russia pageant has grabbed headlines when the two reigning queens of Miss Universe and Miss World have attended its coronation night and were pictured together at the crowning of the new Miss Russia queen.
Fans love the Miss Russia moments, making comparisons of the reigning Miss Universe and Miss World winners. Some even made fashion showdowns, which is interestingly, especially the sharp contrast of the Miss Universe and Miss World fashion.
However, the Indonesia visit of the two reigning queens showed them wearing Indonesia fashion so the stark contrast is not really evident. But one thing is for sure, the Miss Universe 2016 and Miss World 2017 are both gorgeous queens and are doing well in fulfilling their duties as reigning queens.
