Daniela Cepeda, a 21-year old Psychology student Psycho pedagogy at the Casa Grande University, was crowned Miss Ecuador 2017 or Miss Universe Ecuador 2017.She will compete at the 66th Miss Universe pageant in a date and venue yet to be announced by the Miss Universe Organization. She was crowned by Miss Universe Ecuador 2016 Connie Jimenez, who competed and went unplaced in Manila, Philippines earlier this year.
Daniela is a staunch advocate in providing assistance to the many Ecuadorian children who lost their parents during the deadly earthquake that struck Ecuador in 2016. Coincidentally, it was also announced during the coronation night that Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere will visit Ecuador in June to participate in charity events intended for the victims of said 2016 earthquake.
Miss Ecuador is the oldest and most prestigious pageant in Ecuador. It selects the representatives of the country in Miss Universe, Miss International, Miss Supranational and in a separate pageant for Miss World.
In addition to the 4 of the Big 5 pageants, the organization also selects representatives for Miss Tourism Queen International, Reina Hispanoamericana, Miss United Continents, Miss America Latina, Miss Caribbean, Miss Global Cities, Miss Globe International, Miss Bikini International, Miss Asia Pacific, Miss Leisure, Miss Tourism World, Reina Nacional del Café, Miss Mesoamerica, Miss Intercontinental, Reina Mundial del Banano.
