Shanaelle Petty is crowned Miss Universe Croatia 2017, the 21st winner of the pageant at the finals night in the capital Zagreb on Friday night.
Shanaelle Petty bested 17 other girls for the crown. The number of finalists were trimmed from more than 300 girls who auditioned for this year’s edition of Miss Universe Croatia. Petty is 19 years old and is from from Slavonski Brod.
The new Miss Universe Croatia was crowned by Miss Universe Croatia 2016 Barbara Filipović. Elena Jung, 19 years old, from Vodnjan was first runner-up while 21-year-old Marijana Josipović from Osijek was Miss Photogenic. Shanaelle will compete at Miss Universe 2017 in a date and venue not yet announced.
Petty was born in the United States to an American father and a Croatian mother. After her frequent visits to Croatia, she moved to live in Slavonski Brod a few years ago. Shanaelle graduated from Terry Sanford High School in North Carolina and loves to cook, play the piano and enjoys playing tennis and volleyball.
