According to a report from TV Patrol’s Mario Dumaual, the Miss World Organization (MWO) is under negotiation with the government of the Philippines to possibly host the pageant next year. While the Philippines have hosted Miss Universe pageant thrice, the country is yet to stage the Miss World pageant.
In 2014, Miss World 2013 Megan Young accompanied by former Miss World Philippines National Director, Cory Quirino met former Philippine Vice President, Jejomar Binay and they presented their proposal to host the Miss World 2014 pageant in the Philippines. But the Philippine government did not pursue it. So now they are again trying to acquire permission for hosting the competition in the year 2018.
The process is under negotiation but there are no confirmations yet.
Miss World is the oldest running International beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. United Kingdom has hosted this reputed contest 44 times since it began. If Philippines gets the chance, then this will be the first time for them to host Miss World contest which will also result in the enhancement of tourism in their country.
